80 Years Young: Steve Pascoe Launches 2025 Rallycross Season at Lydden Hill

The 2025 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship roared into action over Easter weekend at Lydden Hill, drawing massive crowds for three action-packed days of motorsport.
Saturday and Monday featured intense racing, while Sunday offered a family-friendly mix of an Easter egg hunt and the ever-popular Soap Box race.
Among the highlights was veteran driver Steve Pascoe, piloting the iconic Sierra Cosworth. The car, a fan-favourite, drew even more attention thanks to commentary from Dan, who shared its storied past—and the remarkable fact that Steve is the only 80-year-old currently racing in British Rallycross.
Despite 10 months away from the driver’s seat, Steve delivered a strong performance on Saturday with two 4th-place finishes in the heats and a 5th in the semi-final—just one spot shy of the final.
On Monday, he returned with renewed confidence, posting faster lap times and once again finishing 4th in both qualifying heats. This earned him a second-row start in the semi-final, where he held his position and progressed to the final.
Starting 8th, Steve moved up to 7th before mechanical issues—specifically a failed exhaust manifold—forced him to retire. He was still classified 7th overall, a remarkable achievement against such a competitive field.
Next on the calendar: a trip to Ireland in May for the next two rounds of the Irish Rallycross Championship. We’ll be cheering him on!
